About Our Doctors
Dr. D. Wade Henderson, OD
Dr Henderson has been providing eye care for the Springfield area for over 20 years. He is recognized for outstanding clinical proficiency in the treatment of ocular disease and comprehensive care eye care with special interest in glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, corneal disease and dry eye. He also provides other full-scope services to include adult and pediatric family eye care, urgent care, and specialty contact lens fitting. In addition, Dr Henderson directs surgical co-management for LASIK and refractive surgery, glaucoma surgery, cataract surgery, corneal surgery, and retinal surgery.
Education & Experience: Dr Henderson received his doctorate in 1996 with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude, from Northeastern State University. He is the former Clinical Director of the Kansas Eye Center, one of the largest and most progressive surgical and referral centers at the time. He assisted in the development of the Midwest Ambulatory Surgical Center and has also served as the Director of the Referral Center for Glaucoma and Ocular Disease, as well as Chair Coordinator of the Refractive Surgery and LASIK Clinic. He has also served as Assistant Clinical Professor at Northeastern State University, lecturing and teaching other doctors in the management of ocular disease, anterior segment laser, excimer laser, and surgical procedures for the optometric physician. Dr Henderson is an active member in the Illinois Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association and has been recognized with numerous awards for research and clinical proficiency.
Personal Interests: Dr Henderson's interests include family, fitness and endurance training, mountain biking and other outdoor sports, classical and electric guitar, and wood/metal craftwork. Wade and his wife, Dorsey, haev been married over 30 years and are blessed with 2 amazing children, Dallas and Avori.

Dr. Kevin L. Johnson, OD
Dr. Kevin Johnson is certified in the management and treatment of ocular disease and comprehensive eye care. His areas of special interest include urgent care, corneal conditions, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and other retinal disorders. Dr. Johnson has been responsible in his prior clinic for all comprehensive and urgent care, as well as surgical co-management and clinical management of LASIK, glaucoma, cataract, and retinal surgery patients. He also provides contact lens evaluations and fittings, refractive care, family eye care, pediatric eye care, and geriatric eye care.
Education & Experience: Dr Johnson joins our practice in Springfield from Professional Eye Care Center in Macomb, IL where he has been in practice since 2009. He received his doctorate from Indiana University and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity. Dr. Johnson is the former President of the West Central Illinois Optometric Society. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association. Dr Johnson also serves as a volunteer for VOSH, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.
Personal Interests Dr. Johnson’s interests include family, golf, hunting and the outdoors. Kevin and his wife, Kristin have been married for over 15 years and have 2 wonderful children, Kassidy and Kolin.
