Dr. D. Wade Henderson, OD
Dr. Kevin L. Johnson, OD
Dr. Henderson has been privileged to provide eye care in the Springfield area since 1999. He offers comprehensive eye care with special interest in the management and treatment of ocular disease with primary emphasis in glaucoma. In addition, he provides general services to include family eye care, adult and child eye examinations, geriatric care, and contact lens fitting. He also directs surgical co-management for refractive surgery, LASIK, glaucoma surgery, cataract surgery, and retinal surgery.
Education & Experience Dr. Henderson received his doctorate in 1996 with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude, from Northeastern State University. He is the former Clinic Director of the Kansas Eye Center, one of the largest and most progressive surgical and referral centers in the Midwest at the time. Concurrently, he also served as Assistant Clinical Professor at Northeastern State University, lecturing and teaching other doctors in the management of ocular disease, anterior segment laser, excimer laser, and surgical procedures for the optometric physician. He assisted in the development of the Midwest Ambulatory Surgical Center in Kansas and served as Director of the Referral Center for Glaucoma and Ocular Disease, as well as chief coordinator of the Refractive Surgery and LASIK Clinic at KEC.
Personal interests: Dr. Henderson's interests include family, fitness and athletics, coaching, fishing, and classical and electric guitar. Wade and his wife, Dorsey, have over 25 years of a wonderful marriage, and are blessed with 2 children, Dallas and Avori.
Dr. Kevin Johnson is recognized for his outstanding clinical proficiency and is certified in the management and treatment of ocular disease and comprehensive eye care. His areas of special interest include urgent care, corneal conditions, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and other retinal disorders. Dr. Johnson has been responsible in his prior clinic for all comprehensive and urgent care, as well as surgical co-management and clinical management of LASIK, glaucoma, cataract, and retinal surgery patients. He also provides contact lens evaluations and fittings, refractive care, family eye care, pediatric eye care, and geriatric eye care.
Education & Experience Dr. Johnson joins our practice in Springfield from Professional Eye Care Center in Macomb, IL where he has been in practice since 2009. He received his doctorate from Indiana University and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity. Dr. Johnson is the former President of the West Central Illinois Optometric Society. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association. Dr Johnson also serves as a volunteer for VOSH, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.
Personal Interests Dr. Johnson’s interests include family, golf, hunting and the outdoors. Kevin and his wife, Kristin have been married for over 10 years and have 2 wonderful children, Kassidy and Kolin.
